Disney Metal Necklace Recall

On January 29, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and FAF Inc. announced a voluntary safety recall of approximately 55,000 children's metal Disney necklaces that were sold exclusively in Walmart stores nationwide from November 2009 through January 2010 for $5. The recalled necklaces, which include a metal crown pendant or a metal frog pendant on a metal link chain, were found to contain unsafe levels of cadmium.

The following Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" necklaces are affected by the safety recall:

  • Crown (model # 4616-4187, UPC #72783367144)
  • Frog (model #4616-4190, UPC # 72783367147)

High levels of cadmium are toxic if ingested, especially if ingested by young children. The necklaces were supplied in a crown hinged box with "The Princess and the Frog" printed on the packaging.

Consumers are advised to take this product away from children immediately and return the jewelry to any Walmart store for a full refund or replacement product.
