"Shrek" Drinking Glass Recall

On June 4, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and McDonald's Corp. announced a safety recall of approximately 12 million "Shrek Forever After 3D" collectable drinking glasses that were sold exclusively in McDonald's restaurants nationwide from May 2010 through June 2010. The designs on the drinking glasses were found to contain unsafe levels of the metal cadmium, which can pose a health risk to consumers.

The recall affects all four collectable designs of "Shrek Forever After 3D" 16-ounce drinking glasses (Shrek, Fiona, Puss n' Boots, and Donkey).

Long-term exposure to cadmium, even in low doses, can lead to kidney damage, decreased bone density, and loss of bone, especially in children.

Consumers are advised to stop using the drinking glasses immediately and visit the McDonald's website for information about a full refund.
