Cooks BBQ Grill Recall

On December 10, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and JCPenney Purchasing Corp. announced a voluntary recall of approximately 5,600 Cooks Outdoor BBQ Grills, due to a potential fire and burn risk. The drip pan on the grill does not allow adequate drainage.

The recall affects all Cooks brand outdoor BBQ grills that have a digital thermometer in the hood, a stainless steel top, and a global LP regulator. Recalled grills have lot number 780-2176 printed under the grill’s stand.

JCPenney has received 11 reports of fires resulting from inadequate drainage of the drip pan. The grills were sold in JCPenney stores nationwide and online from February 2009 through September 2009.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled grills immediately and remove the gas regulator and hose assembly. The grills should be returned to any JCPenney store for a full refund.
