On January 21, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Lifetime Brands Inc. issued a voluntary recall of approximately 6,000 Pedrini Pro Chop Professional Multipurpose Choppers, citing a potential for the chopper's metal blades to break off during use, fall into food, and pose a laceration hazard for consumers.
The choppers were sold exclusively at Sam's Club stores nationwide from October 2009 through December 2009. Lifetime Brands has received three reports so far of the blades breaking off, including one report of cuts to the mouth when a piece of the blade became lodged in food.
The recall affects all Pedrini Pro Chop choppers with model number 5061050 and UPC number 024131114849. The choppers were meant for use with various fruits and vegetables. Consumers are urged to stop using the choppers immediately and return the product to any Sam's Club for a refund.
