Vicks DayQuil Recall

On December 18, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Procter & Gamble Co. announced a voluntary recall of approximately 700,000 packages of Vicks Dayquil Cold & Flu 24-Count Bonus Pack Liquicaps, due to a failure to include child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The recalled medication contains acetaminophen and could cause serious health problems or even death if swallowed by children.

The recall affects Vicks Dayquil Cold & Flu 24-Count Bonus Pack Liquicaps, which are supplied in orange packaging with the green Vicks symbol and UPC# 323900010871. The products were sold at retailers nationwide from September 2008 through December 2009.

Consumers are advised to keep this product out of the reach of children, and adult consumers may continue to use the product as directed. Consumers may contact the company for a full refund if the product was purchased under the assumption that it would be supplied in child-resistant packaging.
